Start with the 500 most common German A1 words β greetings, numbers, family, food, transport, and daily verbs. Aim for 15β20 new words per day.

Focus on articles (der/die/das), present tense of regular and irregular verbs (sein, haben), basic sentence structure, and negation.

What is the German A1 Exam?
The German A1 exam (Goethe-Zertifikat A1) is the entry-level certificate of the CEFR scale. It tests four core skills: Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking. To pass, you need at least 60% in each module.
- Reading: Read the questions before the passage to know what to look for.
- Listening: Focus on key words β names, numbers, times, and locations.
- Writing: Learn formal greetings, sign-offs, and how to fill in German forms.
- Speaking: Practise set phrases for introductions, directions, and polite requests.
- You need 24 correct out of 40 to pass (60%).
